Thank you. I've thought about doing a spotlight on addons, but of the many I have, but there's really not too much I use that's gold making related. TSM, Auctionator and Postal are all pretty standard for gold making at this point. Honestly, it's more about having a feel for your market, knowing what's profitable and what isn't, and above all, being persistent. Do almost anything every day for a year and it adds up.

Still, I do look at my addons here and see a few more that are at least peripherally related to gold-making, so an addon spotlight post, or even multiple smaller posts, might have something to it.

Well! This was actually the first post i read on your blog. I did think it was a great achivement and even went to look straight away for the addons you use because it did create an impression on me!
I didn't comment, but i also didn't follow the journey! I only saw the end result :)
Nevertheless, well done and congratulations!

I noticed. I really feel like Blizzard just honestly missed this one, or doesn't really care about people like us at all. I have a feeling things being different this time was either a result of scribes who weren't prepared or people who felt they were paying too much for glyphs whining their heads off back in 4.0.1.

It's the lack of communication or any sort of clear message that bugs me, I guess. If Blizzard had left the vendors showing that they still took Blackfallow on the PTR, or communicated this intention in some way, we could've prepared better.

All in all, this change meant that while there was the increased demand, there wasn't the decrease in supply that would've truly made this another Glyphmas. Prices and sales have gone up, but not nearly as much as they might have, and I think I end up feeling like if I had known, I wouldn't have put nearly as much preparation into it.

It's like Nev always says: Despite what the goblins say, time really isn't money. You can always make more gold, but you can't make more time. I find myself wishing I could get back the massive amount of time I spent on glyph preparation.

Not necessarily. It could end up being used for some new monk glyphs and/or new glyphs that are going to be truly new (i.e. not using the same item ID as old glyphs). It's hard to say, as oftentimes a beta can come and go, and we won't see a lot of the recipes more than half-finished before they're live.

Even if it is still just used for one glyph, though, it's not completely useless. There are Mysterious Fortune Cards and Dusts of Disappearance to craft with them, as well as the Adventurer's Journals that'll likely be popular with powerleveling monks/pandaren. So there should still be ways to unload it if you're stuck with it, much like Pyrite Ore after 4.3. It's just better to not be stuck with it in the first place.

Second, like I said, there are quite a few people that aren't competionists and didn't buy every single glyph in Cataclysm. Plenty more only bought ones that were useful or fun to them, so I think you may be underestimating those "few" (I know my partner and myself both fell under this category). For example, if I was a Restoration/Balance druid, I may very well have never picked up Glyph of Mangle. But in MoP, that's becoming Glyph of the Stag, a fun cosmetic glyph that most druids will want.

Third, the pre-expansion patch will likely, as always, see a fair number of alts being rolled out, as people want to try out new mechanics and talents. Not to mention once MoP launches, don't forget that we have a whole new race, Pandaren, and they can be other classes besides monks. We'll see plenty of monks, sure, and we should all probably make sure we're learning the monk glyphs as soon as possible after launch, but we'll also see Pandaren mages, priests, etc.

Finally, demand's only half the equation. Price is also affected by supply, and it will be more difficult to get inks. I'd be very surprised if we retained the ability to trade down Blackfallow Ink. Assuming this functionality is given to the new MoP herbs, those will be quite expensive at the launch (and not there at all between 5.0.3 premiering and the actual MoP launch). This means ink gets more expensive, which means glyphs get more expensive, which is all the more reason to have what you can get crafted now while it's cheap. Even if by some fluke we can still trade down Blackfallow Ink, once Mists launches there will be far fewer people farming Cataclysm content, so the prices on those herbs will rise.

Will it be exactly as much of a rush as the original Glyphmas? Perhaps not, but demand will increase, supply will decrease, and prices will therefore go up.

i am not so sure we will see a huge demand for glyphs. My experience on my server was that in Cataclysm the player base would buy all the glyhs at once for each alt (i could see that when one player would come on and buy all the glyphs for that class at once).

Hence, the new demand in MoP would either come from Monk class characters or new players or those few players who return and did not buy their glyphs during cataclysm.

Anything's possible at this point, but that would mean an almost 7 month long beta, and starting raid testing over three months before release. Obviously, either one is possible, and Blizzard can change their game at any time, but I would be surprised, to say the least.

Enchant Chest - Mighty Stats: 5 sold at 94g per scroll.
Elementium Rod: 3 sold at 150g each.
Fel Iron Rod: 3 sold at 90g each.

The other rods usually end up being cheaper than their mat costs on my server, and as you can see, rods aren't a huge seller there to begin with. Perhaps it's different on high-pop realms, but on my medium-pop realm, there's just not many people working on their professions right now.

Of course, this is likely to change when Mists comes out, or possibly even once we see a release data for Mists. (Rampant speculation: Judging by equivalent milestones in the Cata beta, I don't think we're more than a maximum of 3 months out at this point.)

I also really wish we had that national average of 220g for Mighty Stats. Unfortunately, we just don't. They're still profitable, but it's one of the more popular ones to make, and the AH often ends up flooded. By comparison, fewer people seem to be willing to get into the Maelstrom Crystal enchants, so the prices tend to stay higher.
